Event Details: Sweater & Soup Social

Join us for a heartwarming evening of community, comfort, and compassion. Our annual Sweater & Soup Social is more than just a meal - it's an opportunity to connect with each other and support our local homeless neighbors.

We're asking each family to bring a crockpot of soup to share and a new or gently used sweater for donation. If you're not a soup maker, don't worry! You can also bring bread, crackers, or simply your enthusiasm. The most important thing is joining our community and helping those in need.

When and Where

We're gathering on Saturday, December 9th from 5:30-8:00 PM in the Ironwood Church Fellowship Hall. This cozy evening is designed to bring our church family together during the chilly winter season while making a meaningful difference in our community.

The concept is simple: bring a crockpot of your favorite soup to share and wear your most comfortable sweater. We'll also be collecting new and gently used sweaters to donate to local homeless shelters, turning our social gathering into an act of kindness.

Our Partnership with Hope House Shelter

Hope House Shelter serves over 200 individuals experiencing homelessness in our community, and they've told us that warm clothing is one of their most critical needs. Last year, Ironwood Church collected 156 sweaters - this year, we're aiming even higher with a goal of 200!

Every sweater you donate goes directly to someone who desperately needs warmth and comfort. Whether it's a brand new sweater or a gently used one in good condition, your donation can make a significant difference in someone's life.

We're especially seeking men's and women's sweaters in sizes Large through 2XL, which are most in demand at the shelter.

Warming Hearts & Bodies

Our annual Sweater & Soup Social is more than just a donation drive - it's a lifeline for our neighbors experiencing homelessness. By collecting warm sweaters, we're providing comfort, dignity, and hope during the coldest months of the year.

We encourage you to bring a clean, gently used sweater for donation. If possible, choose sweaters in good condition that would provide warmth and comfort to someone in need. No worries if you can't bring a sweater - your presence and participation are what matter most. We'll have additional donation options available at the event.

The Sweater & Soup Social will be held in the Ironwood Church Fellowship Hall on Saturday, November 18th, from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM. Doors open at 5:45 PM for early arrivals. Our Sweater & Soup Social is more than just a gathering - it's a chance to connect, serve, and make a difference in our community. We're bringing women together for an evening of warmth, conversation, and meaningful impact.

What to Bring to Our Sweater & Soup Social

Our annual Sweater & Soup Social is a cozy community gathering that combines warmth, comfort, and compassion. We've put together a helpful guide to make sure you're prepared for a wonderful evening of connection and giving.

We'll provide fresh bread, drinks, and dessert to complement the soups. The most important thing you can bring is a friend - all women are welcome, whether you're a long-time member or joining us for the first time!

Not at all! This event is about community, not culinary competition. Whether you're bringing a family recipe passed down for generations or a simple soup from a cookbook, what matters is the spirit of sharing. We celebrate all cooking skill levels and welcome every contribution with open arms.
